Horses are very intelligent animals and they also tend to be pretty skittish. It's important to know how to approach, act, and interact wiht a horse so that you don't scare it.

Horses have very good peripheral vision, like most prey animals. They can see behind them without having to turn their heads. However, having great range of vision does not prevent them from having blind spots. A horse's blind spot is directly in front of it.

This list of things will teach you what you should do and what you shouldn't do when you interact with a horse.

When meeting a horse, make sure that someone who is knowledgeable about the horse's mannerisms is present. They can advise against certain behviours that might spook the horse. Not all horses are properly trained.
For horse's who tend to have more of a temperment, a red ribbon is usually tied around the base of the tail. This is an indication that the horse is NOT to be approached at all.
It's very important to raise horses to not fear humans when breeding them. Once the baby horse is born, it's important that it has constant exposure to humans. Farmers and handlers even pick up and carry the little babies as a way to gain trust and respect from the horse.
